Real Ad-Hoc Wireless USB
by David Sudjiman ~ March 9th, 2005. Filed under: Opinion.I’ve been having difficulties to make use of internet connection using ad-hoc wireless hardware. No, This is not the common access point. I’ve been expecting to make use of internet from a internet-connected desktop PC on my Uni Lab using USB Wireless.
I’m thinking that I would have a wireless USB that I can easily plug into USB port and voila, It turns the wireless USB into and internet gateway that I can easily make use my own laptop or PDA for internet purpose.
I read this article and I think that is an advanced technology that will kill or replace the limitation of Bluetooth. Imagine, wireless connection with Ethernet speed, all over the house, including your Camcorder, TV, Cellphone, and I hope kitchen. Yes, kitchen, or perhaps I should say that it is should be made modular so that any devices that have compliant requirement will be able to make use of this feature, Home Security devices for example.
Back to what I want, the requirement is actually quite simple. I just need to have my notebook and Wireless USB that is loaded with gateway-like firmware that will make any existing internet-connected computer as a bridge using this Wireless USB with no hassle.
Profoundly, this Wireless USB will be equipped with Phone-line port and Ethernet port. Well, yes, It’s a bit complicated now. But I think the first thing to do when I get this stuff will be doing the configuration, save it, and later I can just plug it into Phone/Ethernet/USB connector.
