Today is my first time to join ACS Project Management Special Interest Group Meeting.

There were three people speaking for total 90 minutes and they were talking about the same perspective, Project Management Methodologies and PMP Certifications.

Well, I don’t want to be to be on another side of the equation. However, one guest said his opinion and he was right. Communication skills set.

We often, well, and they too, relying to much to the methodology paper and contract. We think that having completed the tracks based on the paper is always what we rely on to finish the project. Yes, for some certain extent this is true to keep the customer stop asking for more. However, this will end the project with personal dissatisfaction. Yes, the Project manager do the job but that’s it! No more discussion and good bye! We don’t want to see you again as you don’t want to listen!

Communication matters most. What can you get on the contract without communication, what can you get on the requirement without communication. Do you think you want to get the job as soon as possible and get rid of the customer face from your side? So, you don’t want the customer to hire you back? Or you think that the customer will get you back as you’re on the best consultant company and they have no choice?

We don’t need Project Manager that relies on their certification and experience only. Well, the job is getting tougher. It is now required by Project Managers to equip with communication skill sets. Project Manager that can stand on the side on the customer by listening.

The advantages, easy, Project Manager with good communication skills will easily get recommendation, time extention, or budget adjustment.

So, now the Project Managers should go to John Robert Power or Dale Carnegie communication course.
