HD Crashed!
by David Sudjiman ~ May 14th, 2007. Filed under: Catharsis. It’s just one of the day that you pray you have backup for your HD. My laptop suddenly showing “No Operating system found”.
I went to the a friend of mine who did data recovery and he said that I have moist on my HD. I think I just put my evaporiser too closed with my laptop. I was lucky to know that my laptop was okay and only the HD that physically broken. My motor was burned out and the head stuck to the plate.
Nothing I could do with this. Completely nothing!
I bought 160 GB 2.5″ notebook HD to replace my 80 GB 2.5″ and another 500 GB 3.5″ + enclosure for backup.
I lost my pictures since 3 years ago, my documents, and my 30 GB MP3s.
I also need to reinstall my Windows and Ubuntu. Lucky that I have my IBM Thinkpad CD recovery working.
A very good experience and expensive way to learn that you need a backup!

1 en 2 en 3 ….. in choir : I tould you soooooooooooooooooooo…….la la la la
seriously, if you have multiple stations like, it is better investing a cheap lowly desktop with a big hard disk as backup server, and regulary rsync or Samba sync from the system to that server

Yes, I had to install Windows due to several work applications and iTunes that I still don’t know how to run it on Ubuntu.
