Putty Issue

by David Sudjiman ~ December 5th, 2007. Filed under: Catharsis.

I did a change for 175 routers last night. Easy job. Copy and paste the about 100 lines of configuration using Putty. However, funny things happened. Some lines were not copied properly and only affecting about 50 devices. Is this Putty issue? as I can’t find anything on the net.

Should I use SecureCRT or probably TeraTerm Pro?

    Hey Dave,
I’ve seen this in the past with Putty, and with Hyperterminal. As a result when copying configs we always do statistical sanity checks such as confirming that the 12th, and 50th static routes are the same on both ends, or something similar. I’ve had better success with SecureCRT, I’ve never seen this problem using this program, but that’s not to say it won’t happen.

    David,

    Try this:

Changing that delay probably applies to other terminal emulators as well, though I haven’t tried it.
