Stuck in Active
by David Sudjiman ~ October 10th, 2008. Filed under: Cisco.About a month ago I’ve decided to start my CCIE journey. Now I know how hard it is specially when I love my job too much.
I’m just so blessed surrounded by CCIEs hammering to do this and that including doing some small projects myself. Currently I’m helping a relocation project for an 8-floor building. This project is taking so much of my time and I can’t stop getting excited with a pair of 6509 plus WISM, 10 4506s, 88 LWAPPs, and some WAN routers.
This is like a dream come true specially when I get the feeling getting it out of the packaging box, put it on the bench for stagging, and start to play with it. The feeling of turning it on and hearing the fan noise.
This is just part of project where I need to check the devices and pushing all of the config to make sure everything work fine before going live.
I just can’t wait that in the next few months I will be installing these monsters to the rack myself.
Sweet!
In the mean time, I have to keep on studying during the night and this is not easy. I’ve been somehow postponing my study for various excuses but I think I really need to resume my study no matter what.
On the ieoc.com mailing-list, there is a good discussion mentioning that we should not too attached to our job too much because we need to honour our study schedule. Work the best during the day then study like crazy during the night. Don’t do overtime unless it is truly necessary as it will just ruin your rhythm.
Some of my friends confessed that they needed to get their CCIE just because they hated their boss and need to move on and the only way to do that was to upgrade themselves.
Well, no matter what, excuses will never make me moving forward.
Job is great yet I believe I can contribute more If I have my CCIE.
